Rafting event brings fresh appeal to Guiyang’s Taoyuan River

More than 140 tourists took part in the 2026 Taoyuan River Magic Rafting Challenge on Sept 12, adding a new attraction to Guiyang's tourism offerings.

Held at Taoyuan River Ecotourism Resort, the event invited visitors nationwide to experience the river by pairing up and sharing rafts. Rather than focusing solely on speed, many participants enjoyed drifting through the canyon with family and friends while taking in the surrounding mountain scenery. To add to the excitement, the event offered prizes including a one-year use of a Leapmotor vehicle, a gold pendant, and tourism-themed gifts.

Taoyuan River, a national 4A-rated tourist attraction, lies in a karst canyon in Guiyang. The scenic area features rugged peaks, dense forests, and a winding river with both rapids and calmer stretches. In addition to rafting, visitors can explore canyon trails and enjoy views of the surrounding landscape.

Safety measures were also put in place, with participants required to assess their physical condition before joining, while those with conditions unsuitable for water activities were excluded. Staff members were stationed along the route to monitor the activity and assist visitors.

The resort will continue developing new products and services to enrich mountain tourism experiences in Guiyang.
