At Xiaopo village's smart egg-laying farm – operated by Guiyang Agricultural Investment Group – breeding over 300,000 laying hens in Qingzhen city, feeding, watering, manure removal, and environmental control are all automated.
During a visit on Aug 10, reporters saw six standardized poultry houses operating in an orderly manner. Using a smart farming management platform on a mobile phone, technicians can monitor the number of hens as well as egg production, temperature, humidity, and disease prevention records in each house in real time. If indicators such as temperature, humidity, or water consumption become abnormal, the system immediately sends an alert, allowing staff members to identify and address potential problems in a prompt manner.
The farm began operations in 2023 and achieved full-process smart management in 2024. It now has 313,000 laying hens and produces about 210,000 eggs a day. The egg-laying rate has increased by five percent in recent years, while labor management costs have fallen by 20 percent. All eggs can be traced throughout the production process, and the farm's annual output value has exceeded 57 million yuan ($7.9 million).
The smart farming model is backed by years of technological development by Guizhou Aerospace Smart Agriculture Co, which has implemented smart agriculture projects across more than 20 provinces, covering over 3 million mu (200,000 hectares) of farmland and breeding areas.
In May, the company launched its Smart Agriculture AI Agent, which combines agricultural knowledge, policies, and data accumulated from its projects to provide analysis and decision-making support for crop and livestock farming.
Moving forward, the company plans to further integrate AI with smart agriculture, enabling data to better support agricultural production and drive greater efficiency.
