Smart parking streamlines Guiyang's summer travel

Guiyang has experienced a consistent influx of visitors looking for a cool summer escape, with popular commercial zones like Qingyun Market and Huaxi Cross Street teeming with tourists. Improved parking facilities and services through smart upgrades are alleviating longstanding issues such as parking shortages and slow vehicle retrieval.

At Qingyun Road Smart Parking Lot, drivers can park their vehicles using a self-service touchscreen. Vehicles are retrieved through QR codes, license plate recognition, or facial recognition, with an exit process as quick as 90 seconds. The facility features a multi-level automated parking system to optimize space, offering 729 parking spots and alleviating parking congestion near Qingyun Road and Guiyang Grand Theater.

In Huaxi's old downtown, the Minzhu Road Smart Parking Lot, located near Huaxi Cross Street and Huaxi Park, also offers smart parking services for visitors enjoying the area's evening attractions and summer scenery. Ms Liu, a visitor from Hunan, praised the ample parking spaces, orderly management, and attentive staff members.

This year, Guiyang Smart City Operation and Development Group has further enhanced its services to include ETC contactless passage, NFC payments, and QR-code vehicle retrieval. Rest areas, heat-relief supplies, and a 24-hour customer service hotline are also available. The group has also partnered with nearby hotels to offer parking discounts, helping reduce travel costs for visitors.

So far, 30 public parking facilities have been put into operation, and more than 30,000 roadside parking spaces have been made available for visitors. Moving forward, AI will be introduced to recommend nearby available parking spots, making parking even smarter and more convenient for visitors.
