Guiyang farmer bus recognized as 'Guizhou Worker Pioneer'

The Bus Route 252 "Huinong" (benefiting farmers) Shuttle operated by the Central Operations Branch of State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co was honored with the title of "Guizhou Worker Pioneer" by the Guizhou Federation of Trade Unions on April 29.

Bus Route 252 is a suburban line connecting Xiaba town in Wudang district with downtown Guiyang. Xiaba town is rich in agricultural resources, and many of the more than 2,200 villagers from six villages along the route rely on growing and selling fruits and vegetables to increase their income. However, they had long faced difficulties traveling into the city to sell produce, including high transportation costs and safety risks from mixing passengers and cargo.

To address these challenges, Guiyang launched the Route 252 Huinong Shuttle, which stops only at designated stations for vegetable farmers and separates passengers from cargo during transport. The service has reduced travel time from 70 minutes to 45 minutes, with fares ranging from 2 yuan ($0.30) to 7 yuan, improving transportation convenience for local farmers.

The dedicated route, which spans 21.8 kilometers, had transported 33,538 farmers and approximately 1,128 metric tons of fruits and vegetables by the end of 2025.
