Senior tourists aged 70 and above from outside Guiyang can enjoy free public bus rides simply by showing their ID cards to drivers from July 18 to Oct 8, with more than 700 elderly tourists using this service daily since August.

Mr Wang, a visitor from Guangzhou city who came to Guiyang with his family to escape the summer heat, said his mother benefited from the policy. "This city is not only cool in climate but also warm in service," he said.

To better serve the summer tourist influx, State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co has extended operating hours for bus routes passing popular attractions such as Qingyun Market, Jiaxiu Tower, and Qingyan Ancient Town. Twenty standby buses have also been deployed at Guiyang Railway Station and Guiyang North Railway Station to handle passenger surges during peak hours.

In early August, Qianshuang City Public Transport Co, a subsidiary of Guiyang Public Transport Co, launched a customized tourism route linking Huahua Scenic Town in Yangchang, a popular summer retreat, with Qianling Mountain Park in the urban area.

Meanwhile, three sightseeing bus routes have been opened, connecting Huaguoyuan large-scale urban complex, Taiping Road, Jiaxiu Tower, Tianhetan Scenic Area, and Qingyun Market. These routes feature double-decker sightseeing buses equipped with panoramic sunroofs and large viewing windows, offering travelers a comfortable and scenic way to experience Guiyang.
