In recent years, the State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Group has been dedicated to addressing public transportation challenges and improving services to enhance residents' wellbeing.
Since 2024, the group has conducted over 900 research visits and collected more than 11,000 public opinions and suggestions by actively engaging with communities, gathering feedback, and identifying key service areas. This has led to 160 preliminary agreements and 125 collaborations.
The group also launched the official "Guiyang Bus" account on Douyin and introduced livestream sessions to address public concerns about schedules, route optimization, and signage improvements. In 2024 alone, the account's three livestream programs hosted 683 sessions and processed 13,260 customer inquiries, significantly boosting public satisfaction.
The group has taken concrete actions to resolve commuting difficulties. The original Route No 252 faced overcrowding due to farmers transporting produce, and alternative transport options such as passenger coaches and taxis cost between 10 yuan ($1.4) and 30 yuan, too expensive for many farmers. To address concerns regarding high fares, limited accessibility, and safety risks, the group introduced a dual-route system: a regular Route No 252 for the public and a Benefiting Farmers Special Line with off-peak schedules tailored to farmers' needs.
The Benefiting Farmers Special Line features flexible pricing between 2 and 7 yuan based on the volume of goods carried – significantly lower than the cost of other transport options. To ensure safety, the service is operated by 18 highly experienced drivers, each with over 10 years of driving experience. The buses, 11.4 meters long and powered by natural gas, are equipped with customized storage racks to accommodate large amounts of produce. Since its launch, the special line has delivered more than 240 metric tons of fruits and vegetables, receiving widespread praise from farmers.
Building on this success, Guiyang Public Transport Group has expanded its specialized services to cater to diverse commuting needs. New initiatives include the "Health Line" for hospital patients and medical staff members, the "School Protection Line" for students and teachers, and the "City Builders' Line" for construction workers.
The group remains committed to enhancing public transport services and contributing to the high-quality development of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area.
