"With limited professional care at home, life was challenging. Since moving here two years ago, our quality of life has improved significantly, and we feel much happier," shared 85-year-old Grandpa surnamed Xiong and his 84-year-old wife, Grandma surnamed Li, at the Guiyang Industrial and Commercial Kuangshan Elderly Care Center.

Before moving into the care center, Xiong had undergone a partial gastrectomy due to a perforated stomach, requiring a highly specialized diet. Li, who faced mobility challenges after a car accident, struggled with daily activities.
The care center has addressed both of these issues. Caregivers prepared a tailored diet plan for Xiong to aid in digestion, equipped Grandma Li's room with accessible facilities, and arranged personalized rehabilitation sessions to aid in her mobility.
Established in early 2021, the center is housed in a former State-owned Guiyang Mining Machinery Factory Workers' Hospital and serves as a professional elderly care facility combining living assistance, nursing, and medical services. With 100 beds, it currently accommodates over 90 senior residents.
In October 2024, the center earned the prestigious Gold Seal Certification of Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for Assisted Living, making it the first facility in Southwest China to achieve this milestone.

"The center features spaces such as a calligraphy and painting room, a reading room, a multipurpose room, and a mental wellness lounge for recreational activities," said Hu Chunyan, the deputy director of the center.
"Our nurses and caregivers operate on a 24-hour rotational schedule. Once the medical ward is put into use, we'll also offer diagnostic and treatment services tailored to residents' needs," she added.
