On Jan 14, the World Economic Forum unveiled the first batch of 2025 "Lighthouse Factories", with Guizhou Tyre Co, a subsidiary of the State-owned Guiyang Industrial Investment Group, earning a spot on the prestigious list.
The "Lighthouse Factories" initiative, launched by the World Economic Forum in partnership with McKinsey & Company at the 2018 Summer Davos Forum, highlights exemplary digital transformation in manufacturing. A company's inclusion on this list reflects its ability to integrate at least five world-class technologies while achieving remarkable sustainability, energy conservation, and resource recycling results.
In recent years, Guizhou Tyre has undergone a comprehensive digital transformation of its manufacturing system, implementing over 40 advanced technologies, such as AI simulation design, predictive data analytics, large language models, and specialized algorithms. These innovations have reduced quality defects by 57 percent, labor productivity by 68 percent, and inventory levels by 34 percent, significantly enhancing manufacturing agility and quality control.
The group's Radial Tyre Division workshop is Guizhou's first fully 5G-connected factory. Its production lines use smart robots, sensors, and industrial cameras to achieve seamless wireless industrial connectivity and production scheduling across all processes and scenarios. Equipped with flexible robotic arms and intelligent devices, the production line can manufacture a tire bead in approximately 25 seconds.
Smart and digital technologies like these are integrated into every aspect of Guizhou Tyre's workshops. With full 5G coverage, real-time production data from every stage is captured in the intelligent Manufacturing Execution System (MES), enabling tighter collaboration across the entire supply chain and significantly improving production efficiency.
Guizhou Tyre plans to develop new models for digital and intelligent applications, continuing its leadership in innovation.
