Guiyang public transit updates discount policy

State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co announced an adjustment to its fare discount policy. Based on an in-depth analysis of residents' travel patterns, the company has replaced the current 10 percent discount per ride with a recharge-based discount system, offering up to 13 percent savings.

Passengers can purchase Guiyang bus travel packages through the "Yiying Qianxing" app and the "Guizhou Pass" platform. A 500-yuan ($68) recharge provides an additional 50 yuan for bus rides, equivalent to a 10 percent discount. A recharge of 800 yuan grants an additional 120 yuan, approximately a 13 percent discount. The bonus funds are valid for a year.

According to Ming Mei, manager of the company's market operation department, Guiyang Public Transport Co plans to open 1,000 customized bus routes by the end of 2025 to reduce residents' travel time. The company will also improve the integration of the public transit network by continuously optimizing bus routes and enhancing connections with rail, aiming to build a more convenient and efficient urban transportation system.
