State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co recently converted Route 214 into a "ring-stop" service, making it the ninth ring-stop route in the city.
Ring-stop routes allow buses to only stop at designated ring-stop stations when passengers indicate they wish to disembark by pressing a red button on the handrail. If no passengers need to board or get off, the bus bypasses the stop, enhancing overall travel efficiency and reducing commuting times.
In October, Gui'an New Area launched five ring-stop routes (0701, 0702, 0706, 0711, and 0712), connecting areas like Yunyan, Guanshanhu, and Nanming districts. Trial runs over the past month reveal that these routes reduced average travel times by 3-10 minutes per trip.
Since last year, Guiyang Public Transport Co has implemented ring-stop services on routes with specific passenger flow patterns. Currently, the nine ring-stop routes include 214, 55, K237, 317, 701, 702, 706, 711, and 712.
Moving forwards, the company plans to expand ring-stop services to more routes, aiming to provide faster, more efficient public transportation for city residents.
