Guiyang SOE achieves chip localization

In the face of numerous challenges, such as chip supply shortages and soaring prices, State-owned Guiyang Yongqing Intelligent Control Technology Co has recently formed an R&D team with over 20 technical experts.

This team is dedicated to addressing over 80 technical challenges related to its goal of replacing all imported instrument cluster chips with domestic ones. Instrument clusters display important information to an operator, such as vehicle speed, fuel level and the status of various systems.

Yongqing's instrument clusters are mainly used in construction cranes, mining carts, loaders, rollers, graders, mixers, tractors, and other off-road machinery.

Replacing imported chips with domestic ones represents an unprecedented challenge for the company and a first for China's engineering machinery industry.

The team tackled the primary issue of selecting the appropriate domestic chip to test, ultimately choosing the GD105 chip.

Through collaborative efforts, the team completed the design verification and quality testing for the first localized instrument cluster project, which has now entered mass production and shipment.

To date, the team successfully completed the design for 25 localized instrument cluster projects, which have now entered mass production and installation.
