Over the last year, State-owned Guiyang Agricultural Investment Group (GAIG) has taken significant strides to enhance its technological innovation capabilities, establishing the Guizhou Baiyun Thorn Pear Sci-tech Backyard, the Guizhou Kaiyang Seedling Sci-tech Backyard, and the Guizhou Guanling Mandarin Fish Sci-tech Backyard.

These projects focus on industry research and development.

The Guizhou Baiyun Thorn Pear Sci-tech Backyard is a collaborative effort between China Agricultural University, Guizhou University, Guiyang University, and Guizhou Haike Industrial Development Co, affiliated to GAIG. Haike specializes in the research, development, and pilot-scale ripening of thorn pears and related agricultural products.

The Guizhou Kaiyang Seedling Sci-tech Backyard was jointly constructed by China Agricultural University, Guizhou University, and Guizhou Modern Seed Industry Group Co, a subsidiary of GAIG. This backyard focuses on breakthroughs in single products such as chili peppers, strawberries, and hedgehog mushrooms. Guizhou Modern Seed Industry Group Co currently has two modern vegetable seedling breeding centers and six vegetable seedling sub-centers, with an annual seedling production capacity of 460 million plants.

The Guizhou Guanling Mandarin Fish Sci-tech Backyard is a joint initiative of Guizhou Modern Fisheries Group Co, also under the group, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Guizhou University. Guizhou Modern Fisheries Group Co has established 24 productive fisheries breeding bases and two feed processing plants. It produces 10,000 metric tons of commercial fish annually and sells various feeds totaling 180,000 tons.
