Smart water meter put into operation in Guiyang

A fully automatic water meter production line of Guizhou Zhuwei Smart Water Co was put into operation in Guiyang on Sept 6.

This plugs a gap in the intelligent mechanical remote water meter system in Guizhou province, helping to resolve issues related to the supply of urban water in Guiyang city and easing renovation costs for Guizhou's overall water industry.

Guizhou Zhuwei Smart Water Co was jointly established by State-owned Guiyang Water Group and Shanghai WPG Smart Water Co.

They have carried out in-depth cooperation in smart water meters, the production and manufacturing of secondary water supply equipment, as well as the operation and maintenance of the secondary water supply. They aim to manufacture more equipment to support the water supply.

After Guizhou Zhuwei Smart Water Co's production line is fully operational, it will be able to produce intelligent mechanical water meters, ultrasonic water meters, electromagnetic flowmeters, secondary water supply equipment, urban and rural pressure pumping stations, and other products.

The first batch of water meters put into production were mainly intelligent mechanical remote water meters, with an annual capacity of up to 300,000 units. This marks the top level of the industry in Southwest China.

The production line includes four key sections for the quality verification, mounting, assembly, and packaging of water meters. With the company's secondary water supply production line and other intelligent manufacturing production lines now running, the company's annual output value is expected to reach 200 million yuan ($27.43 million).

Compared with traditional water meters, the intelligent versions can provide real-time and accurate flow pressure data.

For example, the smart water meter has an intelligent transmission module, which can return the water meter data in real time. Within one or two months, residents' water use can be understood in real time. Any abnormal measurements will be fed back to the company for immediate maintenance, thus saving water resources.
