Guiyang Public Transport improves bus lines

After it was recently arranged by the "bus brain" intelligent scheduling system of State-owned Guiyang Public Transport (Group) Co, the scheduling plan for more than 100 bus lines in Guiyang this month is now being displayed on a large screen at the Guiyang Bus Comprehensive command and Dispatch Center.

The number of shifts, operating miles, number of buses, and number of drivers as well as their working hours can be clearly seen just by glancing at the screen.

In order to alleviate congestion in key areas of Guiyang, the company has expanded the operations of buses that connect schools, enterprises, hospitals, scenic areas, communities, and also support the logistics industry. Since this year, the company has opened 340 new bus routes.

"Taking schools as an example, based on the 169 special lines already supporting Guiyang No 6 Middle School and Guiyang No 9 Middle School, the former saw 13 more special lines added this year," said Ming Jing, manager of the market operations department of the company.

"Students can pay for tickets by having their faces scanned, after which their pick-up time and stop and other information related to buses is synchronized with their parents' mobile phones. This move has been warmly welcomed by many parents as it helps to ensure their kids' safety," Ming added.

The company has constantly moved to improve the existing public transport network, thus enhancing the efficiency of public transport operations. This year, 118 bus routes in the Guiyang Financial City Manpo region and other areas of the city have been adjusted.

In addition, Guiyang Public Transport in recent years has optimized the connections between road and rail. This has seen 145 bus lines and 25 stations on Metro Line 1 run at full operating capacity. The same can be said for 152 bus lines and Metro line 2, and 79 bus lines and 17 stations on the urban fast rail service.

"In the next five years, our company will mainly promote small-capacity buses on highly flexible operating routes, in a bid to improve the allocation of resources on public transportation," Ming said.
