Two attractions in Guiyang awarded provincial education base

Guiyang Medicinal Botanical Garden and Nostalgia Guizhou Scenic Area under State-owned Guiyang Infrastructure Construction & Investment Group Co were awarded the title of "Guizhou Primary and Secondary School Students' Research-Practice Education Base."

Established in 1984, Guiyang Medicinal Botanical Garden is rich in traditional Chinese medicine resources. More than 2,100 kinds of medicinal plants have been planted there, of which more than 100 are rare and endangered.

The garden has three traditional Chinese medicine cultural squares, one medicinal resources museum, one youth sports center, and 14 traditional Chinese medicine scenic spots.

The park also has six exhibition halls, including Guizhou National Medicinal Resources Department, Guizhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Department, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Department, collecting and preserving more than 50,000 medicinal plants, animals, and mineral specimens.

Yu Meiling, head of the garden, said that about 5,000 students in Guiyang have come to the garden to carry out science popularization and research activities. Activities will continue during the summer vacation.

Nostalgia Guizhou Scenic Area is rich in natural farming resources, which can guide students to experience local culture and farming culture, and cultivate students' correct values and social responsibility.

To enrich the course content, the scenic area has added ecological science popularization research courses with the themes of "butterfly amusement" and "science popularization research with butterflies and insects."
