State-owned Guiyang Agricultural Investment Group (GAIG) in Guiyang city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has focused on the modern seed industry and the agricultural product processing industry, in order to promote integrated models, such as the "planting + breeding + processing" model, and the "production + supply + marketing" model.
GAIG has focused its efforts into developing emerging products by cultivating peppers, morchella mushrooms, and strawberries, and breeding pigs, sturgeon and perch. It has built two high-standard vegetable seedling centers, and has realized the production of grafted pepper seedlings. These grafted seedlings are significant for Guiyang, as such seedlings could only be purchased from outside the province in the past.
The production line for wheaten staples, which was built and put into use by Guizhou Grain Development Group Co, is running smoothly. This production line has allowed Guiyang to make a breakthrough in the large-scale wheat processing industry.
In addition to the production line for wheaten staples, the group has also vigorously developed the agricultural product processing industry, which includes beverages, grain and oil, meat products, prepared vegetables, and condiments. This helps agricultural products from Guiyang and even Guizhou to realize added-value, as well as increase the income of farmers.
This year, GAIG will continue to lead Guiyang's agriculture industry towards modernization.
