The 24th China Expressway Informatization Conference and Technology Products Expo was held in Changsha on July 27.

Zhang Yin, general manager of Guizhou Expressway Group Co, a State-owned enterprise in Guiyang, attended the sub-forum entitled Kaiyuan Hongmeng Smart Transportation Ecological Construction held that afternoon.

Zhang explained that Guizhou is the only province in China without plains. After more than 30 years of construction, the mileage of roads in Guizhou province has reached 207,190 kilometers, of which expressways account for 8,010 kilometers, ranking fifth in the country.

Guizhou is also known as the "World Bridge Museum" because of its 441 large bridges, which include nearly all types of bridges.

It has been reported that Guizhou Expressway Group Co has grown rapidly over the past decade, but it still faces challenges such as a slowdown in infrastructure investment growth and safety issues on highways in mountainous areas. Faced with such challenges, the enterprise has decided to explore digital transformation.

The data center, IoT center, AI center, cloud infrastructure management and control platform have all already been tested and put into use, enabling application systems for multiple main business scenarios.

"For example, the road network dispatching system has been connected to 22,100 videos, 1,335 information boards, and 105 emergency response vehicles throughout the entire network, realizing the unified real-time dispatch of various emergency resources," Zhang explained, "Through intelligent video identification and analysis, the system can automatically monitor and warn of safety hazards such as speeding by non-motor vehicles.”

As a result, since the system was put into use, traffic accidents on the road network under the jurisdiction of the group have decreased by 38 percent.
