On the third anniversary of 5G commercial use in China, Guizhou Tyre Co, a State-owned enterprise with a history of more than 60 years in the city of Guiyang, is increasingly embracing digital technology.
Liu Da, who works at China Unicom's Guizhou branch and is responsible for providing 5G connection solutions, explained that a full 5G connection is meant to support a complete production line using 5G private network technology, allow for wireless industrial interconnection and workshop production scheduling for the entire production process, and digitize each individual process.
Han Hongchuan, director of the enterprise's information technology department, said that in February 2021, the fully 5G-connected factory was completed and put into production. Automation, information and intelligence allow the enterprise to increase production efficiency and reduce operation and maintenance costs by nearly one-third.
Han added that in order to cope with fierce domestic and foreign market competition, the company proposed taking the road of internationalization, intelligence and sustainability – and the fully 5G-connected factory is meant to help achieve this.
The fully 5G-connected factory is just one example of Guizhou's accelerated 5G integration application. It has been reported that this year, the province will create 200 5G application scenarios in 18 areas, including industrial internet, energy, transportation, education, and health care.
