Guiyang implements strong intellectual property strategy

April 26 is the 22nd World Intellectual Property Day. On April 20, Guiyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone launched the 2022 Intellectual Property Publicity Week.

China Power Construction Group Guiyang Engineering Corporation Research Institute Limited Co – a State-owned and a national intellectual property model enterprise – is a testament to the saying "Intellectual property is real money”.

In its first-class hydropower station, the company used patented technology to save 25 million yuan ($3.82 million) in costs. The accident gate and hydraulic machine at the station's water inlet have been operating without failure for more than six years, and the technology has achieved remarkable results.

As of the end of February 2022, the institute held 2,199 valid patents, including 260 invention patents, and registered nearly 345 software copyrights.

The institute has ranked second in the province in terms of the number of patent applications for five consecutive years, and first in China Power Construction Group. It has won the titles of National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprise, Nationally Recognized Enterprise Technology Center, Top 100 Independent Innovation Brands in Guizhou, and Innovative Leading Enterprise in Guizhou Province.

Underpinning all of this is the company's long-term emphasis on intellectual property rights and its continuous pursuit of independent innovation. At the same time, it relies heavily on support from the zone.
