Guiyang Urban Construction Investment Group – a State-owned enterprise, located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – established a special service center last year for residents living in affordable housing.
In addition to carrying out daily property service work, the center also arranges for Party members to serve as volunteers to help with purchasing, cleaning, and meal delivery for many elderly people living alone and those with disabilities.
Yuan Weihua, who is in charge of the group, said that the Zhongba Xingfu community alone has gathered 252 Party members.
There are three large supermarkets in the community, as well as community hospitals, police stations, libraries, and psychological counseling rooms.
The park in the community has been transformed from a wasteland of more than 2,000 square meters and has a pavilion, a 300-meter running track and many plants.
"We have lived here for five years, our life has become more convenient, and the environment is getting better and better. It takes five minutes to walk downstairs to the community hospital, and 10 minutes to the supermarkets. After buying vegetables every morning, we walk around the park," said 73-year-old resident Liu Yuan, who was walking in the park with his wife.
The group has so far built and operated a total of 40,295 sets of municipal-level affordable housing, providing housing security for 120,000 middle- and low-income people in the city.
