Guiyang Urban Development & Investment Co in Southwest China's Guizhou province was ranked as one of Guizhou's ethnic unity and progress demonstration enterprises, according to an announcement from Guiyang's State-owned assets supervision and administration commission on Jan 13.
This honor was bestowed thanks to the company's continuous efforts in Party building, poverty alleviation, project construction and integrated development.
The group has adopted various ways to achieve its goals, such as conferences for CPC committee members, group learning and meetings for government officials to spread and implement the latest policies to local villages.
The company has also donated 60,000 yuan ($9,288) to Longjing village in Qingyan town, Huaxi district, to support the local collective economy and ethnic activities.
Guiyang Urban Development & Investment Co helped the local government by providing 20,000 yuan to facilitate poverty alleviation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. More than 200 poverty-stricken people got temporary jobs as a result of the donation.
To develop Changshun county, a remote area of Guizhou province home to a group of Bouyei people, the company invested 30 million yuan in constructing 16 buildings that can accommodate 144 households. It also invested 420 million yuan in establishing resettlement housing, community service centers, kindergartens and passenger stations, and about 28.24 million yuan to construct health centers and parking areas.
To enhance cooperation, the company actively participated in Double Sixth Festival, a grand traditional festival for the local Bouyei ethnic group held on June 6 of the lunar calendar. The group also sold ethnic crafts from Bouyei and Miao people at passenger stations to boost the village economy.
Going forward, the company will play a more significant role in promoting ethnic unity and progress among ethnic groups.
