During the recent National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Guiyang Urban Rail Transit Group Co – which operates the metro in Guiyang, capital of China's Southwest Guizhou province – took every effort to ensure smooth travel for passengers.

Employees took 24-hour shifts to check the metro's tracks and support facilities and to help passengers find their way safely.

To prevent and control the novel coronavirus epidemic, a total of 25 stations on Metro Line 1 were disinfected four times daily and security checkpoints were set up at each station.

At the same time, Metro Line 1 increased its hours of operation by 45 minutes from Sept 30 to Oct 8, to facilitate the nighttime travel of residents. In addition, the control center added more subway trips, to adjust to the increased passenger flows.

In cases of emergency, volunteers stepped up to provide assistance, guidance, medical kits and disposable umbrellas.

Guiyang Metro Line 2 is currently under construction and is expected to start trial runs at the end of this year.
